SUMMER: July 30 Working from Memory, from Field to Studio
SUMMER: July 30 Working from Memory, from Field to Studio
Class meets Wednesday, July 30 from 9a-12p, and 1:30p-4:30p.
Join me for a day-long class where we explore the methods for capturing a scene as a sketch or series of sketches, and then translate that into the start of a more finished piece back in the studio.
We’ll talk about making multiple sketches to solidify ideas, capture different elements of the scene, and gather as much information as we can to feel confident in our work back in the studio.
Then after a nice break for lunch, we’ll be in the studio putting those sketches to use creating a more finished piece. We’ll also learn how to use memory and imagination to fill in an unforeseen gaps in our sketches.
Materials will be a sketching kit for the morning which can include dry media and/or watercolor, and in the afternoon, your preferred painting medium.
